State Border Guard at the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Lithuania
The State Border Guard at the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania ( Lithuanian : Valstybės sienos apsaugos tarnyba prie Lietuvos Respublikos vidaus reikalų ministerijos ) is the Lithuanian security authority for securing external borders, the Lithuanian Border Guard . The main task of the border guard is to guard the borders of Lithuania . She is an administratively to the Ministry of Interior of Lithuania subordinate military organization. She is also subordinate to the President of Lithuania in his role as Commander-in-Chief . In the event of mobilization , border guards would be fully or partially integrated into the Lithuanian armed forces . The agency was established on February 1, 1920.
The central administration with 233 officials (2011) is located in Vilnius ( Savanorių Prospect 2, LT-03116). In Medininkai there own school Pasieniečių mokykla .
The border guard has 150 dogs that are used to control the borders. 56% of them are German Shepherds , 40% Malinois , 1 short-haired Hungarian pointing dog and other (≈4%) Labrador Retrievers .
