Yuri Nikolayevich Khokhlov

Yuri Nikolajewitsch Chochlow ( Russian Юрий Николаевич Хохлов ; born February 2, 1922 in Torzhok , in the Tver province ; † July 2, 2010 in Moscow ) was a Russian and Soviet musicologist. He was the initiator, founder and first chairman of the Russian Schubert Society .

biography

In 1951 Chochlow began his studies at the Moscow Conservatory , which he completed as a student in the Gruber class until 1954. From 1955 he published musicological books. Since 1955 he was a member of the Union of Soviet Composers. From 1956 to 1966 he worked as senior editor of the book publisher "Muzgiz". From 1967 to 1976 he was the scientific editor of the musical section of the "Soviet Encyclopedia" as deputy editor-in-chief. In 1987 Chochlow became an honorary member of the International Schubert Institute in Vienna. Since 1982 he worked as a researcher in the department of classical art of the West All-Union in the Institute for Art History. From 1994 to 2001 he was chairman of the Russian Schubert Society, from 2002 its honorary chairman and artistic director.
