Jurij Jaroslawowytsch Stez ( Ukrainian Юрій Ярославович Стець ; born December 29, 1975 in Chortkiv ) is a Ukrainian journalist , politician and member of the Verkhovna Rada . From December 2, 2014 to May 31, 2017, he was Minister of Information of Ukraine.

Career

Jurij Stez has headed Petro Poroshenko's TV station Kanal 5 for over ten years (as of 2014) and subsequently the communications department of the National Guard of Ukraine.

In the summer of 2013 he was elected chairman of the "Solidarnist" ("Solidarity"), a predecessor party founded by Poroshenko. Stez is a member of the Bloc Petro Poroshenko party and moved into the Verkhovna Rada at number 13 in the parliamentary elections on October 26, 2014 . Stez then headed the newly created Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine , first in the second Yatsenjuk cabinet and then in the Hroysman cabinet .

Private

Jurij Stez is a close ally of Petro Poroshenko, whose wife Maryna Poroshenko (* 1962) is the godmother of Stez's daughter. Stez lives in Kiev , is married and has two sons and a daughter.
