history

Law has been spoken in Rinteln since the Middle Ages. Since the division into a Hessian and a Lippe region in 1640, the Hessian court for the county of Schaumburg was located in Rinteln .

The reorganization of the judiciary in the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1807 led to the separation of jurisdiction and administration . The canton of Rinteln in the district of Rinteln in the department of the Weser was now responsible for the administration. The courts were structured in the same way. At the level of the canton of Rinteln, the Rinteln Peace Court existed as the court of first instance. The District Court of Rinteln was the court of second instance that was responsible for the courts of justice in the district. Above it stood the Appellationshof Kassel , which was responsible, among other things, for the department of the Weser.

With the end of the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1813, the separation of jurisdiction and administration was reversed and the Electorate of Hesse reintroduced the Grafschaft Schaumburg in 1814.

For the county of Schaumburg, there was the Rinteln Higher Court in Kurhessen as a court of second instance. From 1821, administration and jurisdiction were again separated in Kurhessen. The Rinteln Justice Office was responsible for the case law in the first instance .

After the German War in 1866, Electorate Hesse was annexed by Prussia . The Rinteln judicial office was abolished and the royal Prussian district court Rinteln was established in its place. The Rinteln High Court was also repealed, but had no local successor.

The district court of Rinteln was subordinated to the district court of Hanover . In 1952 the court was subordinated to the Bückeburg Regional Court. This ordinance was declared null and void by the Federal Constitutional Court in 1953 . This assignment was made again later by a valid regulation.
