Realta correctional facility
The prison Realta in to Cazis belonging settlement Realta in Domleschg is next to the Sennhof in Chur one of the prisons of the Canton of Grisons .
prehistory
A forced labor house was built in the episcopal palace in neighboring Fürstenau in 1840 . This was intended for "poor, able-bodied people, but devoted to idleness and begging".
history
From 1851 to 1855 the " correctional institution for alcoholic, dissolute, unstable women and men" was built on today's property. In 1919 the Realta Asylum was opened and for the first time a separation of the chronically ill from delinquents in prison was made.
There has been no women's department since 1948. In 1991 the Beverin psychiatric clinic was institutionally separated and made independent.

Since 2001, opiates have been administered to severely addicts under medical supervision . In 2003 a closed department started operations. In 2004, reparations were integrated into the penal system.
Since 2007 the prison has been officially called Realta Prison .
