Inger Alfvén (born February 24, 1940 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish writer. She is the daughter of Kerstin and Hannes Alfvén and also related to Hugo Alfvén .

Life

In 1964 she completed her studies with the Socionomexamen and then worked as a curator and assistant for children's aid. She later worked as a tutor for literary design at the University of Gothenburg .

Alfvén is one of Sweden's most widely read and successful writers. Her books describe existential and moral conflicts such as predetermined roles of men and women, love, lifelong friendship and loneliness. Her breakthrough came in 1977 with the novel Dotter till en dotter (German: daughter of a daughter).

In 2002 Alfvén made her debut as a playwright with the play Regnbågens rot (German: The origin of the rainbow). It covers the life and development of three sisters in the last decades of the 20th century.

Today Alfvén lives in Stockholm.
