The Justice Center Bochum in downtown Bochum houses the local regional court , district court and the local public prosecutor's office .

The choice of location was controversial because of the need to demolish the grammar school on the Ostring . The client is the construction and real estate company NRW . The competition was won by Hascher Jehle Architects . Six buildings with a gross floor area of 43,003 m² are planned. The topping-out ceremony took place on March 23, 2015.

The new building was completed about three years later than planned. The budget of 107.4 million euros will be exceeded by at least 38 million euros. The building was occupied in October 2017.
