Justus de Verwer
Justus de Verwer (* around 1625/26 in Amsterdam , † before 1688 probably in Amsterdam) was a Dutch marine painter .
Life
He was the son of the successful Amsterdam marine painter Abraham de Verwer , with whom he was certainly an apprentice. Around 1651 he undertook a trip to the East Indies in the service of the United East India Company (VOC) . Only in September 1656 did he return to Holland where he reoriented himself professionally and in 1665 bought an inn in Amsterdam. From 1685 he was mentioned as resident in Gouda .
