The CBF 500 is a naked bike from the Japanese manufacturer Honda .

technology

The liquid-cooled in- line engine has two cylinders and a displacement of 499 cm³. The standard version has a disc brake at the front and rear - an anti-lock braking system is also available as an option. Since the uncontrolled catalytic converter only fulfills the Euro 2 emissions standard , but not the Euro 3 standard, the motorcycle can no longer be registered in the European Union since January 1, 2008.

The four-stroke twin engine of the CBF 500 with four-valve technology and contactless thyristor ignition develops sufficient torque even in the lower speed range. For mass balancing , the two pistons work in opposite directions , the relaxation oscillations resulting therefrom can be suppressed by rotating balance shaft arranged in front of the crankshaft and in the opposite direction thereto. Due to the 180 ° offset, the firing order is irregular (180 ° and 540 °), which gives the engine a robust sound.

The motorcycle weighs almost 210 kg when ready to drive. The track-stable mono backbone frame originally comes from the Hornet , the seat is relatively wide and is also suitable for longer tours.

In terms of development history, the CBF 500 is based on the Honda CB 450 from the 1960s, the so-called "Black Bomber". With 43 HP, this motorcycle had  as much power as the heavy machines from BMW, Norton or BSA known at the time. Otherwise the CBF500 is the successor to the Honda CB 500 .
