The CBR 500 R (factory code PC 44 , PC 57, PC 62 ), a mid-size sport bike suitable for everyday use, is a motorcycle model from the Japanese manufacturer Honda .
The “sports tourer” in the supersport look can already be driven in Germany with an A2 driving license.
Model history
With the CBR 500 R (PC 62) , Honda has continued the CBR series with numerous improvements since 2019.
The first CBR 500 R with the factory code PC 44 was launched in Europe in 2013. In 2016, its successor appeared with a new sporty, dynamic look and LED headlights. A year later, Honda revised the model and released a Euro 4 compliant motorcycle with the factory code PC 57.
The Honda CB 500 F and Honda CB 500 X also have the same engine and chassis , with which Honda is pursuing a modular strategy and thus saving development costs for individual models. The current model is manufactured in the factory in Thailand.
PC 44 - year of manufacture 2013 to 2015
The sporty Honda with full fairing has a two-cylinder in-line engine with 35 kW (48 hp). The engine, the chassis and the frame have been redesigned. It is equipped with ABS, a 41 mm telescopic fork, 17 "cast aluminum wheels and a digital cockpit. With a full tank, it weighs 194 kg (tank capacity 15.7 l Super).
In Germany it cost 6,090 euros when it went on sale.
PC 57 - year of construction 2016 to 2018
The drive and chassis remained unchanged during the model update. Honda focused on a modern sporty appearance and improved equipment. In addition, light emitting diodes (LED) are used in the headlights and rear lights. The tank was enlarged to 16.7 l; the brake lever can be adjusted five times. There is also an adjustable spring preload, a revision of the switching mechanism and a 2 kg lighter rear silencer.
In 2017, the CBR received a model update so that it complies with the Euro 4 emissions regulations.
It is available in the colors Ross White (Tricolor), Millennium Red and Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic.
PC 62 - year of construction 2019 to today
The motorcycle is given a more powerful and aerodynamically favorable appearance. The power delivery is improved by an increased torque in the lower and middle range. Also new are an anti-hopping clutch, which makes gear changes easier, a twin-pipe exhaust manifold and a lower clip-on handlebar. Instruments with liquid crystal screens (with gear indicator) and LED indicators round off the model revision.
The PC 62 is available in 3 color variants: Matt Axis Gray Metallic, Grand Prix Red and Pearl Metalloid White.
At the start of sales it cost 7090 euros.
