Motor data

The Honda PCX 125 is a scooter from the Honda company. It was built by Thai Honda Manufacturing until October 2012. Honda Italia has been building it at the Atessa plant since October 2012. The drive train is supplied by Honda Vietnam. The model was presented on September 14, 2009.

Furnishing

The worldwide version of the Honda PCX is equipped with a switchable start-stop system that automatically switches off the warm engine after 3 seconds of idling and standstill. An exception is the US and Canadian versions, which instead have an engine switch and a parking brake due to safety concerns. To prevent excessive wear on the starter, the Honda PCX is equipped with a starter generator (brushless DC motor) instead of a conventional starter. As a result, the starting process is practically silent. The same technology was adopted for the Honda Goldwing in 2018.

Other Honda 125/150 scooters with a start-stop system (manufacturer's name Idling-Stop) have the same engine (eSP) as the Honda PCX.
