Previous model CB 500 / CBF 500

The CB 500 F (factory code PC 45 ) is a motorcycle model from the Japanese manufacturer Honda .

Model history

The current CB 500 F continues a rather long Honda tradition. The previous model, the CB 500, with the factory code PC 26 , came onto the market in Europe from 1993 and had 7.35 kW (10 HP) more engine power. However, it was kept quite conventional and simple. This concerned both the technology, for example the simple frame construction, and the inexpensive, inconspicuous design.

The CB 500 F, on the other hand, has technical features in the middle class such as ABS and Pro-Link suspension. The model from 2016 got LED headlights and LED taillights, and the tank volume was increased to 16.7 liters. The appearance of the new model is also of a higher quality. Fairing parts have been reduced, a new exhaust with more lean angle has been added (but ultimately the footrests put on first), and the front fork, damping system and handbrake lever have been modified.

The same engine and chassis are also used in the Honda CBR 500 R and the Honda CB 500 X , with which Honda is pursuing a modular strategy and thus saving development costs for individual models. The respective purchase price is thus reduced. The current model is not manufactured in the Japanese parent plant, but in Thailand.
