Jutta Fiegl

Jutta Fiegl (born September 24, 1953 in Vienna ) is an Austrian university professor, psychotherapist , teaching therapist , psychologist and author.

Live and act

In 1983 Jutta Fiegl received her doctorate from the University of Vienna . She taught there from 1988 to 1998. In 1990 she completed her training as a systemic family therapist. She has been a psychotherapeutic reviewer since 2005 . In the 1980s she developed the Vienna Liaison Model for the care of breast cancer patients and their relatives in hospitals .

She works and researches primarily - in private practice and in a university context - in the areas of gynecology and obstetrics, psycho-oncology, reproductive medicine, psychosomatics and sexual disorders.

Fiegl works in the field of sterility and psychological consequences of reproductive medicine ; Since 2005 she has been Vice Rector of the Sigmund Freud University of Vienna (SFU), which she co-founded , and Dean of the Faculty of Psychotherapy Science, where she teaches.

She is one of the few specialist therapists in the field of in vitro fertilization . Her book Unfulfilled Desire for Children received an intense response from the press and the public.

In terms of professional politics , Fiegl made a name for herself at the end of the 1990s as the negotiator of the Viennese psychotherapists in the contract talks on psychotherapy on sick leave . Her chairmanship in the Vienna State Association for Psychotherapy was connected with an expansion of the psychotherapeutic offer in Vienna and its real use.

Since 2008 she has been President of the Association of Austrian Psychotherapists (VÖPP).

Since the mid-1990s, Fiegl has been committed to the academization of the professional group, both as a professional representative and as a teacher in preparatory courses and specialist courses. Training research is one of her research areas .

From 2003 to 2005 Fiegl was together with Heinz Laubreuter , Alfred Pritz and Elisabeth Vykoukal a member of the founding committee for the establishment of an Austrian private university for psychotherapy, which was supposed to promote and enable the academization of psychotherapists. This was followed in 2005 by the official accreditation of the world's first university for psychotherapy sciences, the Sigmund Freud Private University Vienna (SFU) . Since then, Fiegl has worked there as Vice Rector, Dean of the Faculty of Psychotherapy Science, Head of the Psychotherapeutic Propaedeutic Course and responsible for the Systemic Family Therapy course .
