Juvêncio de Jesus Martins (* 1960 or 1961 ) is an East Timorese diplomat. From 2012 to 2017 he was East Timor’s Ambassador to the Philippines .

Career

Martins was one of the members of the executive committee that organized the demonstration against the Indonesian occupation that resulted in the Santa Cruz massacre . Martins was arrested by the Indonesians shortly afterwards.

In preparation for the independence of East Timor Martins was 2001 Junior Diplomat , 2003 then Adviser ( Counselor ) at the Embassy of East Timor in Indonesia. From 2009 to 2011 Martin was East Timor ’s Ambassador to Malaysia , Myanmar and Vietnam . He was followed by José António Amorim Dias as Ambassador to Malaysia and Myanmar, while Martins briefly became Director General for External Relations at the East Timorese Foreign Ministry on March 17, 2011 . On July 6, 2012, he was sworn in by President Taur Matan Ruak as East Timor's ambassador to the Philippines . The accreditation took place on December 20, 2012.

In 2018 Martins, back in East Timor, was Director General for Consular Affairs, Protocol, Ceremonies and Media at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
