The East Timorese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (officially: Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation ; tetum Ministériu Negósius Estranjeirus no Kooperasaun ; Portuguese Ministério dos Negócios Estrangeiros e Cooperação , or MNEC for short) is the East Timorese government agency for foreign relations . Between 1975 and 2000 there was only one government in exile due to the Indonesian occupation . Subordinate authorities

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports to the Agência de Cooperação de Timor-Leste ACTL (Ajénsia Kooperasaun Timor-Leste), the Institute for Diplomatic Studies (Instituto de Estudos Diplomáticos, Institutu Estudu Diplomátiku) and the Unidade de Missão para o Desenvolvimento Regional Integrado TIA (Unidade Misaun ba Dezenvolvimentu Rejionál Integradu).
