JDRF

The JDRF is an international non-profit organization in the United States with the aim of promoting of research for the cure , treatment and prevention of type 1 diabetes . It is tax exempt under Section 501 (c) of the Internal Revenue Code and is one of the 100 largest nonprofits in the United States according to a Forbes Magazine list .

The organization was founded in 1970 under the name Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation , but has been using the resulting abbreviation as the official name since 2011. It is headquartered in New York at 120 Wall Street and has national sister organizations and representations in Australia , Denmark , Germany , Israel , Canada , Mexico , the Netherlands and the United Kingdom .

In 2012, the Foundation supported research projects totaling 110 million US dollars , including more than 50 clinical studies . Of these funds, approximately $ 65 million was spent on research to cure, approximately $ 36 million on research into treatment, and approximately $ 8 million on research to prevent type 1 diabetes. Since its inception, the organization has funded projects totaling more than $ 1.7 billion.
