Juwon Oshaniwa (born September 14, 1990 in Ilorin ) is a Nigerian football player who was most recently under contract with the Scottish first division club Heart of Midlothian . From 2012 to 2014 he was a member of the Nigerian national team . Oshaniwa is a fast, two-way full- back who is deployed on the left. His comparatively poor understanding of the game and tactics at the highest level is criticized.

Career

Oshaniwa played for the clubs Kwara United , Lobi Stars and Sharks FC in the Nigerian Premier League for five years . From several offers from abroad, in 2012, on the advice of Efe Ambrose, he chose that of the Israeli association MS Ashdod . In the summer of 2015 Oshaniwa moved to Heart of Midlothian in Scotland .

National team

Even before moving to Israel, Oshaniwa made his debut on January 11, 2012 for the Nigerian national team . In 2013 he took part in the African Championship , which Nigeria won.

At the 2014 World Cup , he was initially appointed to the squad as a representative for Elderson Echiéjilé . However, after he was injured, Oshaniwa was the only left-back in the Nigerian squad.
