The Käthra Kuche (also Kätheren Küche, the 'Kitchen of Katharina') is a cave east of the village of Briel, northwest of the district town of Ehingen (Danube) on the southern edge of the Swabian Alb .
Allegedly around 1800 it served a Katharina Schunter as a cave. This came from the Schunter family, who lived in the nearby Schunter cave.
During her stay in the cave, she is said to have made fire to cook with. The rising smoke led the residents of the nearby village of Briel to say “D 'Käther kocht” - Katharina kocht. Hence the name Kätheren Küche (= Käthra Kuche).
The rock and the cave are protected under the name rock with cave "Kätheren Küche" as a natural monument no. 84250330172 and under the name Felsband und Höhle ("Kätheren Küche") on the eastern slope of the Brieltal 900 m E from Briel as a geotope .
