history

To commemorate the liberation of the prince and later Duke of Saxony Albrecht from the hands of the prince robber Kunz von Kaufungen , patriotic circles led by the Schwarzenberg financial procurator Johann Traugott Lindner arranged for the erection of a memorial in the form of an obelisk on Fürstenberg near Waschleithe on July 8th It was consecrated in 1822 in the presence of several rifle corps and miners' associations. The place on Fürstenberg near Waschleithe is considered to be a possible place of capture of Kaufungen, which is not documented.

The monument soon developed into a magnet for hikers and day trippers. To protect the obelisk, which had often been smeared by vandals , the royal forestry administration left a log cabin next to the monument in 1838, popularly known as the charcoal burner's hut . The construction cost 1000 thalers and was carried out according to plans and under the supervision of the Schwarzenberg master builder Friedrich Rau and the master bricklayer Hübschmann from Grünstädtel . At the topping-out ceremony on September 11, 1838, the King of Saxony, Friedrich August II, appeared with his wife Maria. As a permanent resident of the Köhlerhütte, the Raschau Steiger Franz Anton Richter, who worked in a neighboring mine, moved in with his family on November 1st, 1838 and took over the supervision of the house and obelisk. After some extensions and renovations, a restaurant was inaugurated on July 8, 1839 and Richter became the first host. He was given permission to serve food and drinks under the condition that “only decent company” would be tolerated in the Köhlerhaus.

In 1920, the friends of home Walter Fröbe , Friedrich Emil Krauss , Hugo Hartmann and other members of the Erzgebirgszweigverein Schwarzenberg provided a new furnishings for the farmhouse parlor: it received a tiled stove, old peasant chairs and tables, a knight's "Blechwamms" and other souvenirs remembered the prince robbery. This appearance is still preserved, apart from small losses, despite several changes of ownership ( as of 2018) . After the fall of the Wall , in 1994, the new private owner had the restaurant expanded into a hotel with a new building complex.
