The KölnChor is a concert choir from Cologne under the direction of church musician Wolfgang Siegenbrink and was founded in 2002 . It consists of 80 singers in the voices soprano , alto , tenor and bass . Every year three to five concerts are given in the Cologne Philharmonic and other venues. International performances took place in Russia , Latvia , France and Italy .
The choir's repertoire includes works by Benjamin Britten ( War Requiem ), Handel ( Messiah ) as well as the Requien by Mozart , Brahms , Giuseppe Verdi , Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and the oratorio “ Ecce Cor Meum ” by Paul McCartney .
The choir participates in various opera galas together with other choirs . In November 2005 the KölnChor and the Rheinische Kammerchor Köln performed together in the KölnArena at the invitation of the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the “Classical Spectacular”.
The KölnChor is a member of the “Netzwerk Kölner Chöre eV” and the Association of German Concert Choirs (VDKC).
