Michael Köpfli

Michael Köpfli (born March 4, 1983 ) is a Swiss politician ( GLP ). He has been a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern since January 1, 2015, where he is a member of the Finance Commission.

Career

Köpfli is an economist , has a son and works as general secretary of GLP Switzerland.

As a teenager he did competitive sports and was, among other things, the 2002 Swiss Junior Champion in the half marathon .

In 2008 he was a founding member of the GLP Canton of Bern. Together with Kathrin Bertschy , he was founding co-president of the GLP City of Bern.

From 2009 to 2014 he was Co-President of the Green Liberal Canton of Bern and a member of the Bern City Council (city parliament) and parliamentary group president there. He sat down u. a. for the introduction of childcare vouchers for childcare outside the family ( Kita ) in the city of Bern.

In the cantonal parliament he has so far been mainly involved in economic and competition policy. He was co-author of Motion 113-2015 against the state-protected minimum tariffs for notaries (transferred on November 16, 2015) and author of Motion 186-2016 on the abolition of the ban on events on high holidays in the canton of Bern (transferred on March 20, 2017).

On April 1, 2016, he became General Secretary of GLP Switzerland.

On June 19, 2017, the party nominated him as a candidate for the government council elections (cantonal executive). In the election campaign he promised a “competitive offensive against monopolies, felt and cartels”. In the election he came in 9th place out of 16 candidates, which was not enough for a seat in the 7-member government council. He was re-elected to the Grand Council on the same day.
