Johannes Hallmann (born February 23, 1964 in Zeven ) is a German agricultural scientist and phytomedicist , he is Scientific Director at the Julius Kühn Institute , Federal Research Institute for Cultivated Plants, Director of the Institute for Epidemiology and Pathogen Diagnostics in Braunschweig , University Professor for Nematology and was 1st Chairman of the German Society for Phytomedicine 2017/18.

Live and act

After completing school and high school, Johannes Hallmann studied agricultural sciences with a focus on plant production at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Bonn . He received his doctorate from this university in 1994 and also received his habilitation there in 2003 with Venia Legendi in the field of plant diseases .

Research stays have taken him to the US-American Auburn University in Alabama, the Nuriootpa Research Center in Australia and to the Kenyatta University & ICIPE in Kenya. He completed other engagements in the Department of Plant and Microbial Biology, University of California , Berkeley, USA, as an FAO consultant for Farmers Field School in Indonesia for nematology training at the Yezin Agricultural University , Myanmar, and as part of the Twinning Project: Strengthening the Phytosanitary Inspection to Croatia and Ukraine .

Since 2005 he has been teaching as a private lecturer at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn in the field of phytomedicine (areas: nematology and biological plant protection). Since 2006 he has a teaching position at the University of Kassel , from 2014 as apl. Professor for the field of nematology in the field of ecological agricultural sciences and since 2016 he has had another teaching position at the Humboldt University in Berlin in the field of phytomedicine .
