Kathrin Bertschy (born July 2, 1979 in Thun , resident in Bern and Düdingen ) is a Swiss politician ( glp ).

biography

Bertschy is an economist by profession . In 2007 she graduated with a licentiate (master) in economics and in 2015 with a CAS in science journalism. Between 2003 and 2014 she carried out research and consulting activities at various institutions, including a. as project manager of the NRP60 project “Career Entry and Wage Discrimination”. Since 2012 she has been the managing director of the consultancy Bertschy & Stocker. She lives with her family in Bern and has a daughter.

Political career

Bertschy was a member of the city council ( legislature ) of the city of Bern from January 2009 to December 2011 and was president of the glp Bern from June 2008 to November 2009. Among other things, she successfully campaigned for the introduction of childcare vouchers for day-care centers in the city council.

In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2011 , she was elected to the National Council in the canton of Bern . There she has been a member of the Commission for Economy and Taxes (WAK) since 2011. a. used in agricultural policy for ecological reforms of the direct payment system. On November 3, 2012, she was elected to the newly established management team at glp Switzerland. She has been a member of the Judicial Commission since 2015 and of the Social Security and Health Commission since 2015. She also appeared as a parliamentary group spokesperson for socio-political initiatives (“Parental leave instead of maternity allowance” and “Equality for all living communities”).

On November 19, 2014, she was unanimously elected co-president of the women's umbrella organization alliance F together with National Councilor Maya Graf (Green BL) . In this function, she initiated, together with Operation Libero,  the non-partisan campaign “ Helvetia calls ”, which aims to bring more women into Swiss politics.

In 2016 Bertschy was one of the co-founders of the think tank glp lab , which she chairs as patron and association president.
