Flavia Wasserfallen (born February 7, 1979 ) is a Swiss politician ( SP) .

Life and work

Wasserfallen grew up in Hinterkappelen, municipality of Wohlen near Bern , and completed the Matura type B at the Bern-Neufeld grammar school in 1998 . She studied political science, economics and media studies at the University of Bern and graduated in 2007 with a licentiate. In an exchange semester, she also studied at the University of Bologna with a focus on European politics. After completing her studies, she worked as an employee in the Federal Council and Parliamentary Affairs section at the Federal Office of Energy (SFOE). In parallel to her professional activity, Wasserfallen founded the organic vegetable subscription provider bioabi.ch .

Flavia Wasserfallen is married, the mother of three children and lives with her family in Bern. She is not related to the FDP politician Christian Wasserfallen .

Flavia Wasserfallen was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern from 2002 to 2012 . From 2006 to 2010 she was Vice-President of the Socialist Group. In addition, she was Co-President of the SP City of Bern from 2010 to 2012. On June 23, 2012, Flavia Wasserfallen in Basel was elected by the SP delegates together with Leyla Gül as Co-Secretary General of SP Switzerland. The two general secretaries headed the central secretariat of the SP Switzerland until the end of March 2018.

On May 29, 2018, Wasserfallen was sworn in as a national councilor . She succeeds Evi Allemann , who was elected to the Bern government council.
