Lorenz Hess (born June 28, 1961 in Bern ; entitled to live there ) is a Swiss politician ( BDP ).

From 1990 to 1994, Hess worked for the Bern City Police (today Bern Cantonal Police) as head of information. He then became Head of Communication at the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG). In 2000, Hess was elected to the Stettlen community council. Since the summer of 2001, he has served as mayor of Stettlen. In June 2002 he was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern . There he had a seat from June 2002 to November 2011. In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2011 he was elected to the National Council and has a seat there on the Commission for Social Security and Health (SGK) and the Judicial Commission (GK). He is also president of the information group / lobby group for soft drinks IG Erfrischungsgetränke, founded in 2013 on the initiative of the beverage manufacturers . Hess is Co-President of the Parliamentary Group Care and the Parliamentary Group Hunting and Biodiversity and on the board of Spitex Switzerland. He is also a member of the advisory board of the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation Nottwil, the Advisory Board for Housing Switzerland Association, and the IG Biomedical Research and Innovation. Hess is President of the Bernese Hunters' Association and has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Visana Group since 2017 .

Hess is married, has three daughters and lives in Stettlen. He is a federally certified PR consultant. In the Swiss Army he holds the degree of colonel .
