Christian Wasserfallen (born June 30, 1981 in Bern ; legal resident in Wileroltigen ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP. Liberals ).

Life

Christian Wasserfallen is a son of the late Bernese City Council (member of the city executive) and National Councilor Kurt Wasserfallen . He began studying physics at the University of Bern in 2001, which he broke off after two semesters in 2002. He then studied mechanical engineering at the Bern University of Applied Sciences from 2003 to 2006 and graduated in 2007 as a mechanical engineer from the University of Applied Sciences.

His political career began in 2000 as a board member and delegate of the Young Liberals . From 2002 to 2005 he presided over the young liberals of the city of Bern and was elected to the city ​​council (legislature) of Bern in 2003 . Since 2007 he has been on the board of the Swiss Young Freisans and was elected to the National Council for the FDP in the elections on October 21, 2007 . In the elections of October 2011 , October 2015 and October 2019 he was re-elected. In the large chamber, he temporarily sits in the Commission for Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy NR (UREK-NR), the Commission for Science, Education and Culture NR (WBK-NR) and Commission for Transport and Telecommunications (KVF-NR) .

Since April 21, 2012, Wasserfallen has been a member of the five-person Vice-Presidium of the FDP, The Liberals. Within the FDP he belongs to the conservative right-wing wing. He will step down from his position as Vice President at the end of 2019. Wasserfallen was a board member of the nuclear- friendly Swiss Nuclear Forum .

In 2016 there was a dispute within the Swiss Automobile Club (ACS) , in which Wasserfallen was involved. Some of the ACS sections wanted Wasserfallen as their president. Other sections opposed it. As a result of the power struggles, Wasserfallen decided to resign from the office of ACS President.

He lives in the city of Bern.
