The Jungfreisinnigen Schweiz (JFS) form a liberal young party . According to their statutes, there is a fixed cooperation with the FDP, the Liberals . The statutes also call for a representative to be sent to the board of the FDP, the Liberals and other committees of the parent party.
Organization and goals
The young freemen represent economically and state-politically a market-liberal line and are socio-politically liberal. According to its own information, the Young Party has 3800 members across Switzerland. Members between the ages of 15 and 35 can become members. Matthias Müller is the president of Jungfreisinnigen Schweiz.
On April 12, 2008, the Young Liberals merged with the Young Liberals Party, keeping the name Jungfreisinnige Schweiz , but changed to Giovani Liberali Radicali Svizzeri in Italian and Jeunes libéraux-radicaux suisses in French. The Jungfreisinnigen Schweiz are the umbrella organization of the Jungfreisinnigen cantonal parties, which have also been expanded through the merger of the young liberals and liberals at the cantonal level. At the 2010 congress, an umbrella organization of the Basel Young Liberals and the Basel Young Liberal Party was accepted as a member of the Young Liberals Switzerland.
According to its own information, the Young Party is represented in the National Council by Andri Silberschmidt ( Zurich ), Christian Wasserfallen ( Bern ), Philippe Nantermod ( Wallis ) and Christa Markwalder ( Bern ) and in the Council of States by Johanna Gapany ( Freiburg ).
The Young Party is a partner of the Swiss Liberal Student Association , a member of the European umbrella organization LYMEC and the global association IFLRY .

Initiatives
Pension initiative
At the extraordinary congress in Solothurn on June 23, 2019, the delegates of the young freemen decided to launch a popular initiative to secure old-age provision (AHV) . The so-called “pension initiative” envisages increasing the retirement age to 66 years and then linking it to life expectancy (with a factor of 0.8). The launch took place on November 5, 2019.
According to their own statements, it is the second launch of a popular initiative for young liberals.
