Andreas Aebi

Andreas Aebi (born November 26, 1958 in Burgdorf ; resident in Wynigen ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ). He has been a member of the National Council since December 2007 .

Life

Andreas Aebi is a farmer by profession . He also works as an auctioneer and as a travel agent. He has been President of the Swiss Cattle Breeders Working Group since 2014 and has been a board member of the meat retailer Lüthi & Portmann Fleischwaren AG since summer 2018 . He holds the degree of major in the Swiss Army .

Aebi has been married since 1985 and has two sons and a daughter. He lives with his family in Alchenstorf in the canton of Bern .

politics

Aebi was the mayor of Alchenstorf from 1998 to 2008. He has been President of SVP Emmental since October 2009 . He was elected to the National Council in the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2007 and re-elected in the 2011 and 2015 elections. In the National Council, Aebi has been a member of the Foreign Affairs Commission since 2007 (from December 2011 to November 2013 as President) and a member of the delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE (from January 2014 to December 2015 as President).

After the resignation of Federal Councilor Samuel Schmid , Andreas Aebi and Adrian Amstutz were proposed by the Bernese SVP as a possible candidate for the 2008 Federal Council election . His candidacy for president of the Swiss Farmers' Association in November 2012 narrowly failed.
