Erich Johann Hess (born March 25, 1981 in Dürrenroth ; entitled to live there ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ).

Political

From February 9, 2008, Hess was President of the Junge SVP Schweiz , previously he was the treasurer. In addition to the Presidium, Hess holds other mandates in the Swiss People's Party, for example, he is a member of the board of the SVP of the canton of Bern and the central board of SVP Switzerland. In addition, since 2005 he has also chaired the Junge SVP Kanton Bern.

Under his leadership, the Young SVP brought about a referendum against the continuation of the free movement of persons with the EU in 2008, together with the Swiss Democrats and against the will of the parent party . The Young SVP proposed him as a possible successor candidate in the 2008 Federal Council election for the resigning Federal Councilor Samuel Schmid . In 2009 he also brought about the municipal initiative "Closing and selling the riding school " in Bern, this popular initiative was clearly rejected by the voters of the city of Bern on September 26, 2010 with 68.4 percent of the votes against. 2011 Hess joined unsuccessfully as a candidate for the People's Party at the House of Representatives 2011 on, with the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2015 , he was, however, successful in the National Council elected.

At the beginning of 2014, Hess announced his resignation as President of the Young SVP; Anian Liebrand was elected as his successor at the delegates' meeting on January 25, 2014.

Positions

His political actions are primarily shaped by the fight against Switzerland 's accession to the EU , the fight against foreigners and so-called “ foreign infiltration ” of Switzerland, against increasing bureaucratisation and for lower taxes . In local politics, his involvement against the Reitschule cultural center is formative. In addition to his political mandate, he is a member of various organizations. These include B. the campaign for an independent and neutral Switzerland (AUNS), Pro Libertate and the Samariterfahrdienst Bern-Biel-Thun.

Private life

Hess grew up in Lauperswil in the Emmental. He is a truck driver , a member of Les Routiers Suisses and an entrepreneur . In the Swiss Army he held the rank of sergeant .
