Action for an independent and neutral Switzerland

The action for an independent and neutral Switzerland (AUNS) ( French Action pour une Suisse Indépendante et Neutre [ASIN] , Italian Azione per una Svizzera neutrale e indipendente [ASNI] ) is a political association, which on June 19, 1986 from the then Action committee against joining the UN as an association within the meaning of Art. 60 ff.  ZGB was founded. The former national councilors Otto Fischer ( FDP , BE) and Christoph Blocher ( SVP , ZH) were among the founding members .

aims

AUNS pursues the goal of maintaining and promoting the independence , neutrality , direct democracy and security of Switzerland. In particular, it speaks out against any rapprochement with the European Union and the participation of the Swiss Army in missions abroad. In the past, she opposed Switzerland's accession to the UN , the two bilateral treaty packages between Switzerland and the EU , the extension of the free movement of persons to the new EU member states in 2004 and 2009, Switzerland's contribution to the EU Cohesion Fund and against the possibility of arming Swiss soldiers during missions abroad on behalf of the UN.

According to its own information, the organization has around 34,000 members and 3,000 patrons. The official press of the AUNS first appeared in 1986 under the name “Grauer Brief”, the magazine has been called “AUNS Klartext” since September 2007 and is published six times a year.

From 1986 to 2003 the AUNS was presided over by the SVP politician Christoph Blocher. Since his election to the Federal Council, SVP National Councilor Pirmin Schwander led the organization initially on an interim basis; then from 2004 to 2014 as President. After his resignation, Lukas Reimann took over the presidency in April 2014. The vice-presidents are Jean-Dominique Cipolla and Luzi Stamm . Other board members of the AUNS include the former SVP national councilors Oskar Freysinger , Christoph Mörgeli and Thomas Fuchs . Werner Gartenmann is the managing director.

Guest speakers from abroad are also frequently invited to the annual general meetings. These included the lawyer and SPD politician Klaus von Dohnanyi (2006) as well as the university professor and pdv politician Norbert Geng (2011) and Frauke Petry (2016).
