Thomas Fuchs (born June 18, 1966 in Bern ; resident in Neuenegg ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ).

After finishing school, Fuchs completed an apprenticeship at the mortgage bank in the Canton of Bern. He later graduated as a qualified property manager with a federal certificate. In the meantime he worked in the form of a stage at the private bank Brown Brothers Harriman on Wall Street in New York . After returning to Switzerland, he worked for the Berner Kantonalbank and the Schweizerische Volksbank as a credit specialist. After training as a merchant HKG, dipl. Graduated as a business economist, he has since worked as a management member and credit specialist.

politics

From 1995, Fuchs was a member of the Bern City Council until he was elected to the Grand Council in June 2002 . Until 2002, Fuchs was 1st Vice President of the Young SVP of the Canton of Bern. Since then he has been honorary president of the same cantonal party and an honorary member of the Young SVP Switzerland. Fuchs has been a member of the Justice Commission since 2010.

Fuchs is managing director of the Bern section of the taxpayers' association and president of the civil society association Pro Libertate . He ran for the National Council in 2007 , but was not elected due to a lack of 263 votes. After Adrian Amstutz was elected to the Council of States on March 6, 2011, his seat in the National Council became vacant for Thomas Fuchs. In the elections on October 23, 2011 , Fuchs was not re-elected; this time he was missing 6,168 votes.

In addition to his political activities, Fuchs holds positions in the world of media: Editor Schweizerzeit , publisher of BernAktuell newspaper; Publisher newspaper THE IDEA.

Fuchs is openly gay. He is a colonel in the Swiss Army and lives in Niederbottigen .
