The Swiss time is a nationally conservative newspaper in Switzerland . It appears biweekly.

The publisher is Schweizerzeit Verlags AG, founded in 1979 by SVP politician Ulrich Schlüer and based in Flaach . In terms of content, the magazine is closely related to the SVP and in particular the AUNS and represents strongly conservative positions. The WEMF - certified circulation is 12,955 (previous year 13,911) sold / distributed copies.

As editor in chief held sway until 2015 Ulrich Schlüer, from 1 October 2015 until the end of July 2016 Olivier Kessler , then again Ulrich Schlüer. According to the legal notice, employees of the newspaper include the SVP National Councilor Luzi Stamm , the Bern SVP Councilor Thomas Fuchs and the psychotherapist Christa Meves . The publicist Roland Baader, who died on January 8, 2012, was also an employee . In addition, the Swiss time offers many conservative Swiss journalists and politicians a platform, including Christoph Mörgeli , Natalie Rickli , Lukas Reimann and Gregor A. Rutz . Speeches by the former National and Federal Councilor Christoph Blocher are often published during the Swiss period . The FDP member Giatgen-Peder Fontana is Chairman of the Board of Directors.

In the early 1980s, when Schlüer was a member of the Working Group on Southern Africa (ASA), articles on apartheid policy in South Africa appeared during the Swiss period , which have already been described as "tendentiously in favor of the white government in South Africa".

Publications by Jürgen Graf , who later denied the Holocaust , were also often used between 1990 and 1992 on questions of asylum policy. Graf had previously worked as an interviewer for asylum seekers for six months and described his impressions in a book that was later heavily criticized in the NZZ and praised during the Swiss era. Even before Graf began to work as a Holocaust denier, he was no longer an issue for the Swiss era .

In connection with the EEA vote in 1992, Schweizerzeit published a special free issue of 360,000 copies that were distributed to households in German-speaking Switzerland. She is also involved in popular initiatives by enclosing signature sheets with the issues.

An article in Schweizerzeit on January 13, 2006 caused an indirect sensation in the public eye . In it Ulrich Schlüer reported that two rejected asylum seekers, suspected of having committed assaults, murders, kidnappings and explosive attacks, were wanted from Albania by Interpol the Swiss Asylum Appeal Commission was granted refugee status. In this context, Schlüer spoke of a constitutional state that was degenerating into a "scum-protector structure" . When the then Federal Councilor Christoph Blocher addressed this case in a speech, he described the two asylum seekers as “criminals” instead of “alleged criminals”. Various media and politicians accused Blocher of having disregarded the presumption of innocence and not pointing out that the asylum appeals commission did not consider the allegations of the Albanian judiciary to be credible.

With regard to the question of right-wing extremist vocabulary in the Swiss era, various media pointed to links to the New Right : “The new Federal Council report on“ Right-wing extremism in Switzerland ”by Urs Altermatt and Hanspeter Kriesi also mentions Schlüer's paper; The “Schweizerzeit” is not referred to there as a right-wing extremist publication, but as a platform for various authors of the German New Right. “There are close contacts with the New Right in the Federal Republic of Germany. Various employees of the German magazine ' Criticon ' are regular authors [...], for example Gerd-Klaus Kaltenbrunner , Günter Rohrmoser and Hans Graf Huyn . The magazine 'Criticon' ... is considered to be the real intellectual body of the German New Right. Hans Graf Huyn was even hired as a permanent employee of the 'Schweizerzeit' in 1993, "write Altermatt and his assistant Damir Skenderovic in the Federal Council report."
