biography

Natalie Rickli grew up in Riet near Neftenbach , today she lives in Winterthur. From 1992 to 1995 she completed a commercial apprenticeship at Fenaco in Winterthur and then worked until 1997 in the company's own publishing house for various titles such as UFA-Revue . She trained as a publishing assistant and completed a master's course.

She then switched to the advertising industry, where she marketed print products and websites from Sport , Weltwoche , PCtipp and Computerworld , among other things . She worked at the former Qualiclick AG in Zollikon as a website manager, then at the IDG publishing house as head of advertisement administration and marketing, later at AdLINK Schweiz AG as site relations manager, switched to IP Multimedia (Schweiz) AG in 2009 and was there until the end of 2017 worked in various functions at Goldbach Media in Küsnacht , including as a "Partner Relation Manager" on the management team. Since the beginning of 2018, she has been an independent communications consultant with her own agency communication @ natalierickli .

politics

Rickli began her political career at the age of twenty as a secretary at the Junge SVP , later she was the managing director and then president of the party. Rickli was from May 2002 to June 2007 in the City Council of Winterthur ( legislative branch ) and from May 2007 to November 2007 in the Cantonal Council of the Canton of Zurich . In the parliamentary elections in 2007 she was elected to the National Council. The SmartMAP for national elections in 2011 locates Rickli in the right-wing camp. She was re-elected in the 2011 parliamentary elections and achieved the best result of all SVP candidates in the canton of Zurich. In the National Council she is a member of the Commission for Transport and Telecommunications and, since 2012, also of the Commission for Legal Issues .

Until 2014, Rickli was a member of the board of directors of the “Aktion Medien Freiheit” association. Since then she has served as its president.

In January 2012 Rickli was elected to the Vice Presidium of the SVP parliamentary group. After she had not received enough votes in this election and was therefore initially not elected, the SVP Councilor of States Alex Kuprecht , who was placed before her, withdrew after interventions by Christoph Mörgeli and Christoph Blocher and Rickli moved up. The circumstances of this election were discussed controversially in the Swiss media, among other things, Rickli was accused of owing her choice primarily to this intervention. She rejected this representation.

In April 2012, Rickli caused a sensation in Germany and Switzerland when she criticized the Swiss Federal Council in the discussion program Sonntalk on TeleZüri for failing to apply the so-called “valve clause” in the agreement on freedom of movement between Switzerland and the European Union in 2009 is anchored in order to limit the large immigration from the 15 old EU member states, especially from Germany. Rickli said that "people get upset because we have too many Germans in the country." This would put great pressure on the Swiss job market , on the infrastructure , schools, public transport, the streets and on apartment rents. Germans would also force Swiss people out of their jobs. It also affects employees, for example from the Balkan countries in the hospitality industry , who already work here, who would be replaced by Germans and then put a strain on the Swiss welfare system . The media continued to say that Rickli had called for a "valve clause" for Germans in the discussion program Sonntalk , which, in their opinion, was not true. She never called for the “valve clause” for Germans, but was in favor of calling up the “valve clause” in 2009, when mainly Germans came.

On September 13, 2012, Rickli announced that she was suffering from burn-out and was therefore not taking part in the current autumn session of the National Council. With the beginning of the spring session on March 4, 2013, she took part in parliamentary operations again. Previously, in early February, 2013, she spoke in SonntagsBlick and health shipment pulse of the Swiss TV about her subdued burn-out.

In the National Council elections on October 18, 2015, she was re-elected with the second-best result in Switzerland with 167,185 votes.

Together with the previous government councilor Ernst Stocker , she was nominated for the 2019 government council election by the delegates' assembly of SVP Canton Zurich. In March 2019 she was elected to the Zurich Government Council and took over the health department.
