Min Li Franziska Marti (born June 1, 1974 in Bern ) is a Swiss politician and journalist . She is National Councilor of the SP and publisher and editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper PS

Life and work

Min Li Marti grew up in Olten as the daughter of a Chinese refugee and a Swiss citizen . In 1995 she moved to Zurich , where she completed a degree in sociology, journalism and social and economic history in 2000. This was followed by further training in corporate communication at the Swiss Public Relations Institute, in screenwriting at the FOCAL Film and Audiovision Training Foundation and in leadership and change management at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW).

Marti mainly worked in the fields of film and campaigns . In 2004 she co-founded the production company Das Kollektiv für audiovisuelle Werke GmbH , which made films such as Guru: Bhagwan, his Secretary and his Bodyguard by Sabine Gisiger and Beat Häner. Marti was active in the referendum campaign for the Zurich Film Foundation and advised Zurich politicians such as Elmar Ledergerber , Martin Graf and Ruth Genner in the election campaign . From 2000 to 2004 she was party secretary of the SP of the Canton of Zurich, where she was responsible for the cantonal election campaign. From 2008 to 2010 she headed the campaigns at the VPOD union as central secretary. Min Li Marti and Andrea Sprecher became co-heads for communication at SP Switzerland in 2011 and organized the national election campaign in 2011 with a budget of around 1.5 million francs. From 2012 to 2015 Marti worked as a senior consultant at the left-wing campaign forum and the communications agency haemmerlischaefer contemporary communications .

Min Li Marti became known to a wider public as a columnist for the free newspaper 20 Minuten . Since the end of 2014 she has been running the left-wing weekly newspaper PS as publisher and editor-in-chief , which she received from her predecessor Koni Loepfe for a cup of coffee.

Marti's political career began in the left-wing Association of Students at the University of Zurich (VSU). In 2002 she was elected to the municipal council of Zurich for the SP of districts 4 and 5 . From 2009 to 2015 she presided over the SP parliamentary group and the Intergroup Commission (IFK). Min Li Marti is on the management of the SP of the City of Zurich.

She applied for a candidacy for a city council candidate within the party, but was defeated by one vote from Raphael Golta . In the 2015 parliamentary elections , she was elected to the National Council in eighth place on the list for the SP of the Canton of Zurich , where she is a member of the Commission for Science, Education and Culture (WBK). In the parliamentary elections 2019 she was confirmed.

Private

Min Li Marti lives with her husband, the Green National Councilor Balthasar Glättli , and their daughter in Höngg . She represents a younger generation of social democracy, was shaped by the Zurich illegal bar scene and is familiar with pop culture issues. In 1999 she was co-editor of the anthology «Sex Drugs Rock'n'Roll. 30 short stories ”and in 2003 from the Zurich short film collection“ Züri Gschnätzlets ”.

In 2012, on Sunday, Switzerland named Min Li Marti the most influential social media communicator of all Swiss community and local politicians.
