Céline Widmer (* 1978 ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

After graduating from high school, Céline Widmer trained as a sound engineer and then studied political science at the University of Zurich . After completing her studies, Widmer conducted research on neighborhood, urban and agglomeration policy at the University of Zurich and has been on the staff of Mayor Corine Mauch since 2014 . Céline Widmer has two children and lives in Zurich.

Céline Widmer joined the Social Democratic Party while studying and was elected to the cantonal council in 2012 for districts 4 and 5 . From 2012 to 2013 she was a member of the Justice Commission and then until May 2019 a member of the State and Local Commission. She has been President of the Finance Commission since May 2019. In her parliamentary group, Widmer was a member of the parliamentary group's executive committee and chairwoman of the parliamentary group's committee on state and justice from 2013 to 2019.

In the national parliamentary elections on October 20, 2019 , Widmer was elected to the National Council for the SP .

Widmer was a member of the management of the SP City of Zurich from 2009 to 2015. From 2013 to 2016 she was a member of the board and since 2016 President of the Swiss Workers Relief Organization in Zurich .
