Rudolf “Ruedi” Noser (born April 14, 1961 in Glarus ; resident in Glarus Nord ) is a Swiss entrepreneur and politician ( FDP Switzerland ).

education and profession

From 1978 to 1982 Ruedi Noser completed an apprenticeship as a machine mechanic at Rieter in Winterthur . He then studied at the Rapperswil University of Applied Sciences and graduated in 1985 as an electrical engineer . He later received further training in corporate management at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) and in business administration at the University of Zurich .

Together with his brother, he built a software company.

In 1988 Ruedi Noser became co-owner of Noser AG (development of measurement and control technology ) in Winterthur, which was restructured into the Noser Group a year later . He has been the sole owner of the group since 1996. The Noser Group includes several companies in Switzerland, Germany and Canada with a total of around 450 employees. The group competence lies in the field of telecommunications and IT. From December 2006 to May 2008 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Esmertec AG (now known as the Myriad Group ).

From 2000 to 2006 Ruedi Noser was Central President of Swiss Engineering . He has been on the board of ICTswitzerland since 2006 and has been president of this umbrella association for the ICT industry since 2009. He is also a member of the Industrial Advisory Board of the IT department at ETH Zurich and a member of the Management Board of Economiesuisse .

Ruedi Noser lives in Zurich, is married and has five children.

politics

From 1997 to 2004 Ruedi Noser was a board member of the FDP canton of Zurich , where he was vice-president from 2000 to 2003 and from 2003 to 2004 president ad interim of the cantonal party. He declined to run for the presidium of the FDP canton of Zurich. From 1999 to 2009 he was also a member of the management of the FDP Switzerland (today FDP The Liberals ), where he was vice-president of the national party from 2003 to 2009.

In the 1999–2003 legislative period, Ruedi Noser sat for the Zurich FDP in the Cantonal Council and between 2003 and 2015 as a representative of the FDP Canton Zurich in the National Council . On November 22, 2015, he was elected to the Council of States as representative of the Canton of Zurich . He was confirmed in this office on November 17, 2019 in the second ballot.
