Jürg Stahl (born January 16, 1968 in Winterthur ; legal resident in Fischingen , Winterthur and Lindau ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ). He was a member of the National Council from 1999 to 2019 . In the 2016/17 office year he was President of the National Council .

Life

After completing an apprenticeship as a druggist from 1984 to 1988, Stahl graduated from the Higher Technical College for Druggists in Neuchâtel in 1991/92 and, in 1992, the master's examination . He then completed the post-graduate course “HSG KMU ” at the University of St. Gallen (HSG) . From 1996 to 2004 he was the owner of the “Drugstore Jürg Stahl” in Winterthur. Since 2004 he has been a member of the management of the Insurance Groupe Mutuel and head of the ServiceCenter Zurich.

From 1994 to 2001 Stahl was a member of the city council of Winterthur; from 1997 to 1999 he chaired the SVP parliamentary group and in the year 2000/2001 the council. In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 1999 he was elected to the National Council and confirmed in 2003 , 2007 , 2011 and 2015 . In the National Council, he has been a member of the Commission for Social Security and Health since 1999, which he presided over in the 2008/2009 term of office, and has been a member of the administrative delegation since 2014. He was also a member of the pardon commission (1999–2011), the commission for the environment, spatial planning and energy (2003–2007), the foreign policy commission (2007–2009) and the commission for science, education and culture (2011–2015). He is a member of the 2013 founded at the initiative of beverage manufacturers lobby group for sweet drinks IG soft drinks . He was also President of the Parliamentary Group on Sport in 2008/2009. In the 2016 winter session, he was elected President of the National Council for one year. In 2019 he resigned from the National Council.

Stahl has been a member of the Executive Board in 2008 and has been President of Swiss Olympic since 2017 . Stahl performs voluntary activities as a sports official.

He has been married since 2012, has a daughter and lives in Brütten . He is a major in the military and a parachute reconnaissance officer on the Air Force staff.
