Hans Kaufmann (born June 13, 1948 in Ettiswil , Canton Lucerne ; resident in Ettiswil and Lucerne ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ) and economic advisor .

Political activity

As a representative of the Swiss People's Party (SVP) of the Canton of Zurich , Hans Kaufmann was elected to the National Council for the first time in the 1999 elections. In the National Council elections in 2003 , Hans Kaufmann was re-elected with 123,317 and in the 2007 elections with 141,404 votes. In the elections of October 23, 2011 , he was confirmed in office. He has been a member of the Commission for Economy and Taxes (WAK) since 1999 and of the EFTA / European Parliament delegation since 2007 (since 2014 as a deputy). From 2001 to 2007 he was a member of the Finance Commission (FK) and from 2007 to 2011 the Commission for Legal Issues, and from 2003 to 2007 he was a deputy in the parliamentary delegation at the Council of Europe .

In March 2014, he announced his resignation at the beginning of May 2014. As the main reason, he named the "little edifying cooperation with the Federal Council and some backers on issues relating to the financial center, taxes and international agreements".

Economic activity

In 2011 he was elected to the board of directors of Zürcher Kantonalbank , in 2018 he retired from this office due to old age, followed by Roger Liebi . Hans Kaufmann was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kaufmann Research AG between 1999 and 2018 . In addition to his professional activity for Kaufmann Research, Hans Kaufmann holds various advisory and board mandates, particularly in the pension fund area. Prior to that, he was Director and Chief Economist at Bank Julius Baer , responsible for Switzerland's investment strategy. From 1986 to 1997 he headed the Swiss equity analysis department. He supplemented his professional training with assignments at various New York brokers such as Goldman Sachs , Salomon Brothers and Kidder, Peabody & Co. In 1980, he joined Bank Julius Baer after having worked as a financial analyst at Zürcher Kantonalbank since 1974 . Hans Kaufmann began his career in 1973 as a gold mining analyst in Johannesburg . He holds a degree from the University of Zurich (lic. Oec. Publ).

Private life

Since 1976 he has been married to Jana Kaufmann, with whom he has two grown children. Hans Kaufmann has lived and worked in the municipality of Wettswil am Albis since 1994 . He is the nephew of the Lucerne organist Eduard Kaufmann .
