Thomas Maier (born August 1, 1975 in Adliswil ) is a Swiss politician ( GLP ).

biography

education and profession

Maier passed the Matura Type C in 1994 at the Cantonal School of Zurich Oberland. He then studied physics at the ETH Zurich with a focus on experimental physics and received his diploma in 2001. Also in 2001 he completed a didactics course as a lecturer at the Uster technical school . Since then he has been working at Zürcher Kantonalbank as team leader Operations Unix systems and has completed in-house training in the areas of Unix, methodology and leadership.

Political career

  • 1990–2002: Member of the Dübendorf Youth Commission
  • 1996–2008: President of the GLP district of Uster
  • Since 1998: Member of the municipal council of the city of Dübendorf and the KRL (Commission for Spatial Planning and Land Business), since 2006 as its president
  • 2003/2004: President of the municipal council
  • 2004–2012: Member of the Cantonal Council of the Canton of Zurich
  • Since 2005: Member of the management of the GLP Canton of Zurich
  • 2007–2011: Member of the Finance Committee of the Cantonal Council
  • 2011–2012: Member of the Executive Board of the Cantonal Council
  • 2008–2012: Group President of the GLP Cantonal Council
  • 2008–2011: Co-President of the GLP Canton of Zurich
  • 2011–2015: National Council , elections of October 23, 2011 , no longer elected in the elections of October 18, 2015
  • 2012–2018: President of the GLP Canton of Zurich

Other functions

In April 2012 Maier was elected to the board of the Action Media Freedom .

Private

Maier is married and has two children. He is active in cycling.
