Hans Fehr (born January 14, 1947 in Berg am Irchel , Canton of Zurich ; entitled to live there ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ). From 1995 to 2015 he was a member of the National Council .

biography

Hans Fehr left after the baccalaureate for secondary school teachers trained and taught from 1974 to 1984 in Flaach and Eglisau . From 1985 to 1998 Fehr was Managing Director and Cantonal Secretary of the SVP of the Canton of Zurich. From 1998 to 2010 he was managing director of AUNS . He publishes regularly in the right-wing conservative newspaper Schweizerzeit .

Fehr began his political career as a member of the Reformed Church Administration of Berg am Irchel (1970–1974) and Eglisau (1978–1982). From 1982 to 1986 he sat as an executive politician in the Eglisau municipal council . From 1991 Fehr represented the SVP in the Zurich Cantonal Council . In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 1995 he was elected to the National Council and in 1996 left the Zurich legislature. Fehr has held senior positions in the Swiss Army since 1982. Since 2000 he has held the rank of lieutenant colonel . In the Federal elections in 2015 Fehr was voted out and resigned from the National Assembly after 20 years of membership.

On January 21, 2011, Hans Fehr was assaulted by several opponents of the SVP on his way to the SVP's Albisgüetli conference in Zurich. This led to a medical examination at the hospital. One perpetrator was arrested and sentenced in 2012 to six months' conditional prison sentence for simple assault. According to the public prosecutor's office, the man does not belong to the autonomous scene.

In December 2013 it became known that Hans Fehr and his wife Ursula Fehr (then mayor of Eglisau, SVP and then lay judge) had employed a Serbian asylum seeker from Kosovo, presumably without a work permit and without paying social security contributions, for casual household chores. According to Fehrs, the woman was compensated in kind or in cash totaling a few hundred francs a year. Since Hans Fehr has been a hardliner on asylum policy in the Bundeshaus for years, unsuccessfully applied for a general work ban for asylum seekers in 2004 and his wife resisted an asylum center in Eglisau, this led to the accusation of double standards . The Fehr couple apologized for their mistake and will pay any social security contributions. In April 2014, the public prosecutor opened criminal proceedings against Hans Fehr and other people on suspicion of violations of the foreigners and the AHV law. The undeclared work case was closed because, according to the prosecution, the couple did not know that the employment of asylum seekers was prohibited. The proceedings regarding allegedly unpaid social security contributions were discontinued because, according to the public prosecutor's office, the Fehrs had not entered into an employment relationship with the cleaning lady; she had only given individual orders and free assistance.

Fehr was not re-elected in the 2015 National Council elections.

He is married to Ursula Fehr, who was the mayor of Eglisau until 2018. They have two children and live in Eglisau.
