Flaach is a municipality in the Andelfingen district of the Swiss canton of Zurich .

geography

Flaach is 360 m above sea level. M. in the Zürcher Weinland on the northern slope of the Irchel . The area of ​​the municipality measures 1016 hectares, of which 345 hectares are forest. 248 hectares of this forest area are owned by the municipality. Flaach has around 1400 inhabitants.

politics

The SVP has 48.30%, the FDP 9.91%, the Greens 9.12%, the SP 8.93%, the glp 8.52%, the EPP 6.46%, the EDU 5.21%, and the CVP 1.62% of the vote ( National Council election 2019 ).

The mayor is Walter Staub (FDP) (as of May 2020).

A number of SMEs are active in Flaach. There are also shopping and entertainment options: two petrol stations, a bakery, a butcher's shop, a Volg branch and several restaurants supply the local population and provide jobs. Anyone who does not have a job in Flaach works in the Winterthur region, in the vicinity of Zurich-Kloten Airport or in the Zurich agglomeration.

Two post bus lines open the community to public transport. The connection to Winterthur and Rafz is guaranteed by Postbus . The nearest train stations, however, are Henggart and Rafz . The Rhine bridge connects the place with Rüdlingen .

Culture and leisure

In Flaach there is a male choir with a long tradition. The first records of a choir singing system in Flaach go back to 1835, three years later a singing day was introduced in Flaach. In 1885 the club received its own club flag (this date is not secured due to a fire in 1908, in which files were also destroyed), which was officially inaugurated a year later.

There is also a brass band in Flaach, the Brass Band Posaunenchor Flaach. The Christian brass band plays according to the English model. For several years she has been taking part in the brass band competition in Montreux in the 2nd class and has been very successful. The association was founded in 1935 as the Christian trombone choir Flaach and has kept the Christian faith to this day.

Flaach has already hosted the multi-day HEAVENSTAGE FESTIVAL several times (most recently in 2017), which is organized by GodiWyland. The two Protestant parishes of Flaach (Reformed Church Flaachtal and Evangelical Methodist Church (EMK) Flaach) work together with 5 surrounding parishes in the Zürcher Weinland.
