Kleinandelfingen is a municipality in the Andelfingen district of the Swiss canton of Zurich . The villages of Oerlingen and Alten also belong to the municipality of Kleinandelfingen. With just under 400 (Oerlingen) and just under 300 inhabitants (Alten), these two villages are significantly smaller than the main town of Kleinandelfingen (around 1400 inhabitants).

The Landvogtei Andelfingen carried the coat of arms of the County of Kyburg after the Count of Kyburg died out in 1264 and differed only in an additional six-pointed star. Andelfingen and Kleinandelfingen both carried on the coat of arms of the bailiwick from 1831. At the beginning of 1927 the official coat of arms was established and the distinguishing feature that is valid today was added: Kleinandelfingen has two stars next to the lions, Andelfingen only one.

Village center of Oerlingen

The municipality of Kleinandelfingen is located in the Zürcher Weinland on the Thur between Winterthur and Schaffhausen and consists of the three villages of Kleinandelfingen, Alten and Oerlingen. 51% of the municipal area is used for agriculture, 34% is forested. Kleinandelfingen is a distinct wine - growing community.

The SVP has 40.12%, the FDP 12.91%, the glp 12.74%, the Greens 10.62%, the SP 10.37%, the EPP 4.11%, the BDP 3.23%, the CVP 2.36% and the EDU 2.00% of the vote ( National Council election 2019 ). The mayor is Peter Stoll ( SVP ) (as of May 2020).

Two graves from the Bronze Age indicate settlement at that time.

The place Kleinandelfingen was first mentioned in the 14th century. In 1434, rule passed to the city of Zurich.

church

There is a Catholic church in Kleinandelfingen: The Church of St. Plazidus and Sigisbert was built in 1989–1990. Your church tower comes from the previous building. The church for the reformed majority population is on the other side of the Thur in Andelfingen.
