history
The settlement of the municipality in Roman times is documented by manors near Niederwil and Dätwil .
The place was first mentioned probably in 1040: in villa Adalinchova hoba ; however, the distinction to Adlikon near Regensdorf causes difficulties in the early documents. The place name is a combination of an Old High German personal name expanded by the affiliation suffix -ing- with the basic word hof and means something like 'at the courtyards of the clan of Adalo / Adilo'.
Since 1817 Adlikon has been an independent municipality, in 1872 Humlikon was separated. A certain economic development took place from 1958.
