The village is on the road from Henggart to Flaach in the Flaach valley. Goldenberg Castle is on a hill . 53.2% of the municipal area is agricultural land, 40.2% is forest, 5.0% is settlement area and 1.6% is used for traffic.

The municipality of Dorf borders on Andelfingen in the north, Humlikon in the east, Neftenbach in the southeast , Buch am Irchel in the southwest and Volken in the west .

In the 2019 National Council elections, the share of the voters in Dorf was: SVP 48.87%, glp 11.12%, SP 9.85%, FDP 19.74%, EDU 8.41%, EVP 4.35%, Greens 3.94 % and CVP 2.04%.

Parish president is Patric Eisele (as of May 2020).

Attractions

Villa Arbenz

To the south of the village, at the Rütihof under the Bergbuck hill, lies the "Villa Arbenz", the former command post of the former Border Brigade 6 of the Swiss Army. The bunker is nicknamed after the last commandant, Brigadier Peter Arbenz .

The system dates from 1961/62. The facility, which was previously classified as secret, extends from the entrance disguised as a barn 300 m long and 50 m deep under the Bergbuck hill. It was decommissioned and declassified in 2011.
