Henggart is a municipality in the Andelfingen district of the canton of Zurich in Switzerland .

Henggart is located between Winterthur and Schaffhausen , in the Zurich wine country . The community belongs to the agglomeration of the city of Winterthur.
The neighboring communities are Dägerlen , Hettlingen , Humlikon and Neftenbach .

The community president is Hans Bichsel ( FDP , since 2014). Other members of the municipal council are Vice President Astrid Erdmann-von Moos (non-party, since 2014), Eveline Schwarz (non-party, since 2018), Andreas Wyler (non-party, since 2018) and Andreas Strolz (non-party, since 2020) (as of 2020).
history
The first traces of settlement have been found near the church, they come from Roman times . In the Middle Ages there was a fortified structure on the Schlossbuck. From 1228, servants of the Counts of Kyburg are mentioned in a document in the defense tower on the church hill . In the course of the 14th century the rule passed to Habsburg-Laufenburg . The monasteries Rheinau , Kappel , Kreuzlingen , Töss and Allerheiligen owned large estates in Henggart. The court rights was between Andelfingen divided and Kyburg. After the decline of the Kyburger in 1452 the second part of the village came under the rule of the city of Zurich.
The church of Henggart was expanded in 1275, with the collature from 1474 in the diocese of Constance until it came to Zurich with the Reformation. In 1820, today's classical church was built on the same site.
Culture
The Bleisch Puppet Theater , a touring theater, was founded in 1970 in Henggart.
