Konrad Gisler

Konrad Gisler (born September 19, 1924 in Flaach ; † November 10, 2018 ) was a Swiss politician ( BGB , SVP since 1971 ). He first worked as a Zurich Cantonal Councilor , then as a Zurich Government Councilor .

education and profession

Gisler attended secondary school and then the agricultural school , which he graduated in 1943. From 1943 to 1959 he worked as a farmer and part-time community clerk for the municipality of Flaach, then until 1972 as a full-time community clerk. From 1972 to 1977 Gisler was head of the cooperative system at the Association of Northeast Swiss Cheese and Dairy Cooperatives in Winterthur .

Political career

From 1963 to 1977 Konrad Gisler was a member of the Zurich Cantonal Council , of which he was a member of the Audit Committee from 1967 to 1974. In 1976/77 he was President of the Cantonal Council.

From 1977 Konrad Gisler was elected to the Zurich government council, where he headed the police and military directors until 1987. In 1983 he was President of the Government Council. His term of office included the realization of the new Reppischtal arsenal , the reorganization of the cantonal civil defense office and the promotion of popular sport .

Private

Konrad Gisler was born as the son of the farmer Konrad Gisler. In 1951 he married Marlies Hess, daughter of Johann Hess.

Gisler was president of the Flaach men's choir from 1947 to 1951 and from 1952 to 1954, and was made honorary president in 1984. In addition, from 1985 he was an honorary member of the Zurich Shooting Association and the Zurich Cantonal Association for Sports.

Gisler lived in Flaach.
