Angelo Barrile (born August 22, 1976 in Winterthur ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

His parents immigrated to Switzerland from Sicily as a working-class family in the early 1970s . Angelo Barrile was born in Winterthur in 1976 as the first child of two. He grew up in Pfungen and attended kindergarten and primary school there from 1981 to 1989. From 1989 to 1996 he attended the Rychenberg Cantonal School in Winterthur and graduated with a type D Matura. From 1996 to 2002 he studied medicine at the University of Zurich . He now lives in Zurich and is in a registered partnership with his long-term partner. He is a Swiss-Italian citizen .

In 2003 he was an assistant doctor in the surgical clinic in the district hospital for Freiamt Muri AG . From 2004 to 2005 he was an assistant doctor in the medical clinic at Bülach Hospital . 2006 to 2009 assistant doctor in the Psychiatric University Clinic Zurich and from 2009 to 2012 assistant doctor in the psychiatric-psychological service of the city of Zurich. Since 2012 he has been a doctor for general internal medicine in a group practice in Zurich. Angelo Barrile is Vice President of the Association of Swiss Medical Assistants and Senior Physicians (VSAO) and President of the Zürcher Aids-Hilfe (ZAH).

politics

In 1998 he joined the Social Democratic Party. In August 2010 he moved to the Zurich Cantonal Council . He represented the SP parliamentary group in the Commission for Economy and Taxes (WAK) until 2011 and then became a member of the Commission for Social Security and Health (KSSG). In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2015 he was appointed to the National Council elected.

In the 2019 parliamentary elections , Barrile managed to be re-elected as a National Councilor.
