Philipp Kutter (born August 31, 1975 in Altstätten ; resident in Homburg and Wädenswil ) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ). He is the incumbent mayor of Wädenswil and a national councilor .

biography

Kutter attended primary school in Wädenswil and completed the Matura Type B at the Wiedikon Cantonal School in Zurich . After studying history , media studies and political science at the University of Zurich , he worked as a journalist first on the editorial team of the Zürichsee-Zeitung and then as editor-in-chief at Thalwiler Anzeiger.

In 2006 Kutter was elected to the city ​​council of Wädenswil and was responsible for safety and health. In 2010, Kutter was elected mayor of Wädenswil. His portfolio includes a. Location promotion and urban development, cultural promotion, population services, personnel and IT. From May 2007 to July 2018 he was on the Zurich Cantonal Council and from 2008 until his resignation in July 2018 as President of the CVP parliamentary group . In the municipal general renewal elections in 2014 and the cantonal council elections in 2015, Kutter was confirmed in both offices and later as parliamentary group president.

In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2015 , Kutter achieved third place within the party with 25,152 votes, which was not enough for an election. On June 11, 2018, Kutter was sworn in as a member of the National Council due to the resignation of Barbara Schmid-Federer .

Kutter is married and has two children.
