A postgraduate degree is a further education offer in the Swiss education system .
Higher technical School
The postgraduate studies in professional colleges find for a from SBFI instead approved curriculum.
The admission requirements are set out in the respective framework curriculum. As a rule, a (relevant) qualification at the tertiary level is required, i.e. a qualification from a higher technical school or (technical) university, a federal diploma . Technical certificate or a federal Diploma .
The content can be complementary to the previous education (e.g. business administration specialization for technicians) or in-depth.
Many of the NDS-HF are not yet recognized according to the current minimum ordinance and are therefore old law. However, the previous legal training continues to be recognized.
A post-graduate degree program includes at least 900 hours of study.
Health area
In the field of health, the NDS HF occupy an important position.
Graduates are allowed to use protected job titles such as dipl. Lead expert anesthetic care NDS HF.
The NDF HF in nursing are recognized or credited by the Bern University of Applied Sciences.

With the changeover to the Bologna system , the postgraduate courses at the universities were also converted.
The postgraduate studies at university level now correspond to the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS).
The postgraduate courses at university level roughly correspond to the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS).
Providers are ETH, university and technical colleges.
