TeleZüri is a Swiss regional private television broadcaster for the city and the agglomeration of Zurich . Founded in 1994 by local radio pioneer Roger Schawinski , TeleZüri and Radio 24 were sold in 2001 for 92 million Swiss francs to Tamedia AG , which publishes the Tages-Anzeiger, one of the most important Swiss daily newspapers. In 2010 Tamedia announced its intention to sell its radio and television channels. In August 2011, the Aargau media company AZ Medien bought TeleZüri and TeleBärn for an unknown amount, and in December 2011 Radio 24 as well.

CH Media , a joint venture between the NZZ media group and AZ Medien, has been the owner of TeleZüri since 2018 . CH Media started operations on October 1, 2018.

The broadcast studios are located in the Steinfels area in Zurich's industrial quarter .

history

TeleZüri was founded in 1994.

TeleZüri went on air for the first time in October 1995. In addition to BELCOM Holding AG (from Roger Schawinski ), the Ringier Group and TA-Media AG were also involved in the station.

On January 1, 2012, the Aarau-based media company AZ Medien also took over the Tele M1 and TeleBärn channels from Tamedia . Under the umbrella of AZ Medien, TeleZüri together with the channels Tele M1 and TeleBärn formed a real family of channels.

program

Co-editors-in-chief of the TV channel family (TeleZüri, TeleBärn , Tele M1 , tvo, Tele 1) are Markus Gilli and Oliver Steffen, editor-in-chief of TeleZüri Claude Winet. In addition to a few evening programs, TeleZüri produces a 45-minute program every day, which is broadcast for the first time from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and then repeated every hour. The ZüriNews , ZüriInfo and the talk show TalkDaily are broadcast . The health magazine Check up has been available on Mondays since 2011 . The trend magazine Lifestyle is broadcast on Fridays ; Saturday evening the cooking program SwissDinner , which in August 2010 replaced the discontinued matchmaking program SwissDate . This is followed by the entertainment magazine Freakish . On Sundays, current topics of the week are controversially discussed in the talk show SonnTalk .

The program structure has remained almost unchanged for years since it started broadcasting. One of the best-known and most followed TeleZüri programs was the matchmaking program SwissDate ; this, at that time still known as ZüriDate , was broadcast for the first time in 1995 and moderated by Patricia Boser until 2003 , followed by Joël Gilgen and from 2009 by Gabriela Ursprung. Over the years, the program achieved national fame and was also broadcast outside the TeleZüri broadcasting area by TeleBärn, Telebasel , Tele Top , Tele Tell , Tele M1, TV Ostschweiz and Tele Südostschweiz . In total, SwissDate had an average of 238,900 viewers per program, of which 139,500 were on TeleZüri. In March 2010 TeleZüri announced that it would discontinue the program after 15 years due to the increasingly difficult search for candidates. From June 2015 to the end of 2018, the gossip show Boser & Böser with Patricia Boser ran on Thursday evening .

style

The reporting contains current topics mainly from the canton of Zurich and partly from surrounding cantons such as Schwyz, Zug and Aargau. At major events, the station also deals with national or international topics. The contributions are created by video journalists and written in a tabloid style.

language

All in-house productions are performed in Swiss German in order to create a special homeland connection .

Odds

In 2017, the station achieved a daily reach of 10.3% (previous year: 10.6%) in its core broadcasting area. According to the Mediapulse television panel , TeleZüri's market share in the entire German-speaking part of Switzerland is 0.9% (1st half of 2018).

distribution

The station can be received in analog and digital form via UPC Switzerland and other cable networks in German-speaking Switzerland; Zattoo , Wilmaa, Teleboy and Blick TV distribute TeleZüri within Switzerland via the Internet. In addition, a live stream is available on the TeleZüri website and all programs can be accessed in the archive.
